Easily Make a Circle Profile Pic for Your Sidebar

by - Friday, August 17, 2018

Hi there all! Today I'm going to show you how you can easily make a circle profile picture for your blog's sidebar using Canva and Photoshop. If you're happy with your square or rectangular photo, that's fine too. But if you think that having a circular photo in your sidebar amps up your blog, then read on to find out how to do it.

This is what we're trying to accomplish:

So, let's get this thing started.

1. Open Canva.
2. Choose Logo. The size for logo is 500x500px which I think is large enough for a profile image on the sidebar.

3. The page will open on Layouts. Go to Search.
4. Type circle.
5. Scroll through the results until you come to circles which have the field and sky image you see in the sample. That will allow you to easily add in an image of your choosing.
6. Choose one. I chose the simplest one for this tutorial.

7. It will automatically attach to the center of your paper.

8. Then, head over to Uploads.
9. Upload your photo. I'm using Pony as my muse for this tutorial. Not familiar with Pony? Check out my fave Youtubers post.
10. After it's completely uploaded, click it to add to your paper. It will automatically appear on the center of the page.

11. Jimmy the photo into place (click and hold on the photo and put it in like contact lenses). It will automatically fill the circle.

12. Should you need to center your image on the circle: click the photo.
13. Filter and Crop will appear as options.
14. Click Crop.

15. You can now position your image within the circle. You can also enlarge or reduce its size by pulling on the dots at the corners.
16. Click check afterwards.

17. Download.
18. Choose .jpg or .png. I prefer .png.
NOTE: If you have Canva for Work, you can easily make the background transparent when you download it in .png :)

19. The photo will have a white square border. It will be okay if the background where you'll place the photo is also white. It wouldn't show.
20. But if your background is colored, even the lightest gray like the one above, the square will show and it will all be for naught. You would need to edit it further on Photoshop.

21. Open your photo in Photoshop.
22. Click Eraser. Choose Magic Eraser tool.

23. Click on the white part of the image that you want to remove.
24. Don't forget to save. File. Save/Save As. Make sure to save as .png (this is important).

And voila! You have yourself a circle profile picture for your sidebar.

If you need to delete the white parts of the background but you have no Photoshop, feel free to send me a message. I also accept other minor editing jobs. 😊

I hope the process was easy to follow, let me know if there's something I needed to clarify. And do let me know if there is something you would want to learn to do next. Have a good day!
